Are you digging deep?
#36 on heavy workloads, mental health, energy levels and the 2025 calendars!
Hey 3,700+ friends, it’s Hannah from Quoted Visually 🤍
It's been a hot minute since you heard from me, but I am not coming back empty-handed… I’m BUZZING to share that my 2025 calendars are live!
Question: how is your workload at the minute?
I was speaking with a friend this week about the concept of ‘digging deep’. I'm working on a project and it's taking a lot from me.
They said something like:
“I know you can do it …you've done it before”
“But I would be a terrible friend for not voicing my concern”
The truth is, we can't always work in alignment with our needs.
We may have financial or contractual obligations, and sometimes, it just makes sense to keep going, due to sunk costs or ‘nearly being out of the woods’ 😅
This is real life!
We can’t wrap ourselves in bubble wrap, and avoid challenges, but how many times can we “dig deep” before we burn out?
I suggest that the antidote is self-awareness.
When we recognise when our health is being affected by our work, we can make sure that when we push, that we follow it up with rest proportionate to our actions, so that we don’t end up in a downward spiral.
Because if rest isn’t part of the plan, then it will become part of the plan!
📖 What I’ve been consuming
What hit me from this episode with Andrew Huberman is how much we can confuse our perceived energy levels with our actual energy levels.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right”
Employed or self-employed, many of us have dreams, hobbies and creative projects that we want to build towards outside of our “workday” or responsibilities.
It's easy to tell ourselves that we don't have the energy.
It’s easy to pull back at the first sign of friction.
But maybe this is the lie that we tell ourselves to postpone taking action. Maybe we haven't “run out of energy”, maybe we are just procrastinating.
Because even the most successful people around us experience friction. We owe it to ourselves to show up for the things that matter to us too.
🗞️ Updates behind the scenes
You probably didn't notice, but I have been as quiet as a mouse on social media lately, but fear not, I haven't forgotten about you.
1️⃣ I've just had my nose in a couple of big freelance projects
2️⃣ I've been developing the 2025 Quoted Visually calendars… which are LIVE…
But these calendars nearly didn't get made!
I looked at my schedule and thought, “something's got to give”.
Then it occurred to me… I could outsource shipping the calendars, if detail focused me could be satisfied with the quality 🤍✨
I was so proud of the service I offered last year when I experimented with sending orders out myself, with branded stickers and handwritten notes.
But ultimately, letting go of some nice-to-haves feel like small trade-offs when I'm able to STILL offer the calendars AND spend my time focusing on things that add MORE value to you like:
creating new illustrations
developing a free taster course
supporting students and clients 1:1.
The lesson ⤵︎
Work smarter! When we are overwhelmed, it's easy to think that we need to start eliminating things from our schedule, but the solution can sometimes be found in changing HOW we do what we do, not WHAT we do.
Choosing print-on-demand means that our calendars are printed locally and especially for us at one of the 140+ different print houses around the world!
Unless you get the PDF version, then they will be printed by you 😉
P.S. if you want one, make sure to take advantage of my launch offer with the code TAKE10. Order before 11:59 pm GMT on Saturday (I’ve extended this for you) 🤍
That’s a wrap. I hope you are doing well.
Big love,
